A trading bot does what its settings say, all day, whether you're watching or not. A setting you got wrong costs you on every trade until you notice.

Practice mode is how you notice first. The bot trades the real market with virtual SOL, sends nothing to the network, and keeps a record of what your settings did: the buys, the skips, the exits and the fees.

This guide covers what AllenHark's Practice mode simulates, what it can't show, what to check in the results, and how to go live small.

Disclosure: AllenHark sells the managed bots described here. Nothing in this guide is financial advice.

The short answer

  • Every AllenHark bot starts in Practice mode, with 10 virtual SOL on the real market. No real SOL is used.
  • Fees and slippage are counted. What practice can't model is how other traders react to your buys, or whether a live trade lands.
  • Practise with your live settings, then judge the spread, not the total: worst trade, worst day, longest losing run, skips and fees.
  • Go live small, with a budget and a daily loss limit, and go back to practice when you change a lot.

Why practise first

Most new tokens go to zero, and a bot can lose many trades in a row. Practice can't change that. It shows how your settings behave before your SOL is in it: whether the bot buys at all, what fees take, what your stop loss does when a token dumps, and how bad a bad day is. A spend per token with an extra zero costs nothing to find in practice.

What Practice mode is

It isn't a separate product or a backtest. It's your bot, on your own private server, with the settings you saved; one switch decides whether it trades virtual SOL or the real SOL in your wallet.

When setup finishes, a new bot starts practising by itself with 10 virtual SOL. You don't need any SOL in the wallet yet.

Practice numbers are grey and marked Practice, and alerts from a practising bot say "(Practice)". Practice and live PnL are never added together: a practice gain isn't money in your wallet.

Simulated, real and not modelled

Part of a tradeIn practiceWhat it means
Your SOLSimulated10 virtual SOL to start. Your real wallet isn't touched.
The marketRealReal launches, graduations, crossings, dips, wallet trades and pools, depending on the bot.
Your settingsRealThe same Style, filters, spend per token, TP/SL and limits as live.
SkipsRealEach launch or trade it passes on is listed in Activity, with the reason.
FillsModelledFees and slippage are counted on every bot; on the Graduation, MC Breakout and Dip Snipers, the pool's fee, slippage for your size and the network fee.
Relay tipsModelledCounted the same way as live.
Arbitrage round tripsModelledThe exact quoted result of the same round trip at the same moment, after every cost.
Sending and landingNot modelledNothing is sent, and your own fast senders are never used, so practice can't show whether a live trade would land, or in which block.
Other tradersNot modelledPractice can't know how other bots and traders would react to your live buys, or how your buy would move the price for others.
Arbitrage racesNot modelledPractice can't see other bots chasing the same gaps, so it can't show how often a live round trip would land first or fail.

Two things hold for any simulation. A real buy moves the price for everyone after it, a lot on a thin pool. And on a busy launch many bots race for the same block: some land, some don't.

Changing the virtual balance

Reset practice, on the bot's page while it practises, starts again with 10 virtual SOL or an amount you type, and clears the practice trades and their PnL; your real wallet isn't touched. The Wallet Copy Trader, Graduation, MC Breakout, Dip and Arbitrage bots also have a Practice balance setting in Advanced.

The demo is not Practice mode

Each bot's page also has Try the demo, which is a different thing.

The demo's bot is shown in practice too, but its trades are on made-up launches and say nothing about the market. Use it to learn the app: Block-0 Sniper, Momentum Sniper, Wallet Copy Trader, Graduation Sniper, MC Breakout Sniper, Dip Sniper, Arbitrage Bot. For the current monthly price, see each bot's page or pricing.

How to set up a useful practice run

  1. Pick a Style. Safer, Balanced or Riskier sets the filters, how many tokens the bot holds at once and how it manages them. Balanced is the starting point. (The Arbitrage Bot uses a minimum profit and caps instead.)
  2. Use your live settings: the spend per token, take profit, stop loss and Speed you'll use with real SOL. Speed sets the priority fee and slippage, so it changes your fees.
  3. Set your limits now. Practising without the budget and daily loss limit you'll use live tests a different bot.
  4. Match the balance to your deposit. Funding 1 SOL? Reset practice to about 1 virtual SOL. With 10 virtual SOL and no budget, the bot can hold more at once than a small wallet could.
  5. Leave it alone. Changing settings mid-run mixes two strategies in one record. Test changes with the practice comparison (below), and reset practice when you adopt one.
  6. Give it time: busy hours and quiet ones, good days and bad. There's no magic number; the Go live checklist asks for at least 10 practice trades, and more tells you more.

On the Wallet Copy Trader, practice also tests wallets: add the ones you're considering, each small, and see whose copies lose. See how to pick wallets worth copying.

What to look at in the results

CheckWhereWhat to look for
Number of tradesTradesEnough closed trades to mean something. A handful can be luck.
Skips and whyActivity, and the Right now lineWhich filter stops most launches. Few buys is usually the filters doing their job.
Spread of resultsTrades, filtered to Wins or LossesThe typical trade, and the PnL without your best one.
Worst trade and worst dayTrades, and the PnL calendar on HomeWhether you could live with them in real SOL.
Longest losing runTradesLosses in a row, and what they cost together.
How exits behavedEach trade's reason for sellingWhether TP/SL, and a trailing stop or rug check on the bots that have them, sold when you expected.
FeesNext to your PnL, and on each tradeWhat fees and tips took. On small sizes they can eat the whole edge.

What not to conclude

  • A good practice week doesn't predict live results. Past launches don't predict future ones.
  • The win rate isn't the result. A few big losses can wipe out many small wins.
  • Expect live to be harder. Practice can't count other bots reacting to your buys, or trades that don't land.

A checklist before going live

  1. You practised with the Style, spend per token, TP/SL, Speed and limits you'll use live.
  2. The run covered busy and quiet markets, and at least one bad day.
  3. You know your worst trade, worst day and longest losing run, and can afford them in real SOL.
  4. You know which filters skip the most, and why.
  5. Your fees are small next to a typical trade.
  6. You've set a budget and a daily loss limit.
  7. You'll only add SOL you can afford to lose, and you've read the risk disclosure.

Going live small

Press Go live on the bot's page. It's a guided step:

  1. Your practice result: PnL, trades, the share won and the worst trade.
  2. A checklist: the amount per token is set, the real wallet holds at least 0.1 SOL, and the bot has made at least 10 practice trades (an experienced trader can skip the count in Advanced).
  3. The worst case in one sentence, such as the most SOL that can be in trades at once. With no budget, it says everything in your wallet can end up in trades.
  4. A box to tick: "I understand I can lose up to" that amount.
  5. Your PIN (4 to 8 digits, chosen here if you haven't one). Your server checks it; AllenHark staff can't go live for you.

From then on the bot buys with real SOL, within your limits. Live PnL is in colour, and your practice balance stays as it was. AllenHark suggests 0.5 to 1 SOL to start; it stays in your bot's wallet on your server, and you can withdraw it whenever you like.

Live, every AllenHark bot detects in 0.2 ms and, by default, sends through AllenHark Relay: same block, 0.1 ms over QUIC. Other fast bots land in the same block too, so speed isn't profit.

The limits that protect you

Your server enforces these when the bot buys or sells, whether or not the app is open.

Limit or actionWhat it does
BudgetThe most SOL in open trades at once; a buy that would go over is skipped. Off until you set it.
Daily loss limitOnce today's closed trades have lost this much, buying stops until midnight; selling carries on. Off until you set it.
Stop lossSells a token that falls this far below what the bot paid, on every bot that holds tokens.
Pause buyingStops new buys and keeps managing what the bot holds.
Pause allPause buying, stop and sell everything, or stop and keep tokens, for every bot at once.

The Arbitrage Bot holds no tokens, so it has its own caps: per trade, fees per day, failed trades' fees per day, and a stop after a run of failures. Limits and safety covers each one.

When to go back to Practice

Switch to practice is in the bot's "⋯" menu and doesn't need your PIN. New buys then use virtual SOL, your real SOL stays in your wallet, and tokens already bought with real SOL are still sold by your rules. Go back when:

  • You change a lot: a new Style, different TP/SL, a new launchpad or new wallets to copy. Newer launchpads are Beta; start small on them.
  • You hit a losing streak. Look at what's happening before you raise your size.
  • The market changes. Settings that worked while launches were busy can behave differently when they're quiet.

For smaller changes, the practice comparison on the Strategy page replays the last 7 days with your edited settings next to your current ones, with the worst day and worst trade for each. Use it to rule changes out, then try the survivors in practice. With the optional AI strategy assistant, Try it in practice first runs a bigger change in a separate practice bot for 24 hours, next to your real one.

The risks, plainly

  • Most new tokens go to zero, and a rugged token can't be sold at all.
  • Losses can come in a row, and a bad day can follow a good week.
  • A stop loss limits most losses, not all. A price can drop a long way between two updates.
  • Practice is a guide, not a forecast. It uses the real market with virtual SOL and modelled fills.

Only trade SOL you can afford to lose. Read the risk disclosure and Limits and safety first.

FAQ

Is Practice mode the same as paper trading?

Yes. The bot trades the real market with virtual SOL and sends nothing to the network. Advanced mode labels it paper trading.

Can I test a Solana bot without real money?

Yes. The demo runs in your browser on a simulator, with no account. With a plan, your bot starts in Practice mode with 10 virtual SOL on the real market.

How long should I practise?

There's no set time. The Go live checklist asks for at least 10 practice trades; more, across busy and quiet markets, tell you more.

Will my live results match practice?

No. Practice counts fees and slippage, but not how other traders react to your buys, or trades that don't land. Expect live to be harder.
